Australia’s Foreign Minister Penny Wong has incensed Israelis and a lot of world Jewry by calling, yesterday, for “recognising Palestine” ahead of a two – State Solution to “end the violence” between Israel and the Arabs now wanting you to call them “Palestinians”.
The timing could not be more insensitive to Israeli sensibilities, not least because ONE HUNDRED AND THIRTY THREE Israelis including 6 foreign nationals REMAIN AS HOSTAGES of a recognised and proscribed terror group.
Of the 133 hostages still in gaza, around 33 are believed to be dead so far, with their bodies still not being released by the terror entity Hamas, with the IDF unable at this stage to as yet return the corpses for burial in Israel.
As of 9 April 2024, negotiators on behalf of the terror group in Gaza state that Hamas is unable to provide the names of the Israelis it has kidnapped and they are “unsure” as to where all of them are.
On April 10, Hamas now further added that it did not have 40 living hostages who matched Israeli criteria for release, raising fears that many more than the 33 I mentioned have been killed in the terror tunnels by Hamas.
That, however, has not prevented terror leader Sinwar in Gaza from making onerous demands on Israel in return for hostages he claims not to know the whereabouts of, or even if they are alive.
Ironically, ALL of the demands Sinwar and Hamas in Gaza are now making, from increased food aid, return of gazans to their homes in the north without being checked for fleeing terrorists by Israel, ability to resume work in Israel to feed their families (because Hamas used billions in accountability-free aid money to build terror tunnels…) and the complete withdrawal of the IDF from Gaza were ALL everyday realities on October 6 2023 in gaza, the day BEFORE SINWAR LAUNCHED HIS WAR ON ISRAEL on October 7……
However, with “Palestine” Penny Wong’s statement calling for recognition of the “state of palestine”, it is very difficult for Israel and world Jewry NOT to see that recognition as a prize for the massacres and atrocities Muslim Hamas visited on Israel on October 7 2023.
After all, as Australian FM one would hope Palestine Penny would be aware that Hamas in gaza is not in the least bit interested in an additional arab Muslim state cheek by jowl with the sovereign State of Israel.
Hamas has NEVER stated they will live peacefully with a Jewish state.
The Hamas charter extols the killing of all Jews starting with those in Israel. Hamas violently opposed, in 1993, the Oslo I Peace Accord signed in Washington. In 1995, it opposed Oslo II signed in Taba, Egypt. It opposed the end of the First intifada against Israel and the 2nd intifada in 2000.
Hamas absolutely refused the 2000 Barak offer of statehood which would have returned 110% of Gaza (literally) to the arabs with 96% of the “west bank” they always said they wanted for a “Palestinian state”.
In 2005, Israel unilaterally pulled out of Gaza, and Hamas began their rocket attacks.
In 2007, hamas threw Abbas’ Palestinian Authority government workers off the rooftops of gazan buildings and chain dragged others behind motorcycles forcing the legal signatory authority to the Oslo I & II peace process, the PA, to flee the Strip to Ramallah on the other side of Israel
In 2008, hamas refused the Olmert Israeli offer of statehood on similar lines EVEN WITH the ADDITIONAL OFFER of E. Jerusalem as a putative capital of a “Palestinian state”.
Hamas absolutely opposed the 2020 Abraham Accords and, finally, in 2023, Sunni Hamas, witout much nudging from Shia Iran, tore apart the looming rapprochement between Israel and Saudi Arabia which would have changed the whole dialogue of the Middle East forever.
Palestine Penny knows all this; or should know all this.
Thus, with full knowledge of Hamas’ thirst for jewish blood in gaza, with Hamas absolutely smashing it in Areas A and B of what you call the “west bank”, with Abbas and the corrupt, nepotistic and failed PA in Ramallah powerless to prevent a Jew hating Hamas front in Judea, and with the recognition the PA and Hamas use the same UNRWA Jew-hating school text books, that Palestine Penny would voice support for recognising a “Palestinian state” at this moment in time when that solution has never been a goer for THE PAST 76 YEARS, can only appear as a reward for a terror group which committed atrocities against Israel 6 months ago.
Yet Palestine Penny ignores any mention or reference to an apocalypse of Israeli bodies on October 7, 2023 while calling for “recognising Palestine”.
For Ms Wong, all thats needed is to “recognise Palestine” and the trauma and debasement of Israeli girls without clothes, no tops, no bottoms. some cut in half, others decapitated, girls whose pelvis was simply shattered from being raped;….all this would simply disappear once Australia “recognises Palestine”.
Even the Arab world was disgusted by the similarities between the Hamas atrocities and those of ISIS before them: abduction, captivity, human trafficking, sexual abuse, rape, and violence. Yet Ms Wong chooses just this moment to call for recognition of a Palestinian state when the Arabs in Ramallah hate the sight of the those in gaza and while the Arabs of gaza call for the genocide of the Jews of Israel….
No, there can be no “Palestinian state” without a military, civic and political solution in Gaza.
Gaza still holds 133 Israeli hostages, both Israelis who are alive and Israeli corpses, Jews murdered by Hamas…..
42% of mum and dad gazans STILL support Hamas and violence against Jews.
Only 10% of Gazans believe Hamas committed any war crimes on October 7.
In the “west bank” support for Hamas has risen to 44% up from just 12% in September.
Palestine Penny knows this; or should know this.
In Israel, 75% of Jewish Israelis do not believe the war should wind down until ALL the hostages are returned; dead AND alive.
65% of Jewish Israelis oppose the creation of an independent “Palestinian” state.
Israeli perceptions of Arabs in the east and west of Israel have hardened; and not without good reason.
That Palestine Penny cheerfully announces “Australia’s support” ( sic) for a “palestinian state” ignores the elephant in the room: WHO will rule in Gaza???
Is Minister Wong suggesting “a revitalised PA” (whatever that means)?
Is Ms Wong perhaps suggesting that Hamas return to power in the Strip? She isnt. But she provides no solution either, just a wishy washy kumbaya style “lets recognise a Palestinian state” and that will bring the peace.
It wont. And Israeli offers of full “Palestinian” statehood havent.
And what about the Gazans themselves? They detest the PA, “revitalised” or not, and any foreign brokered solution be it Emirati, Qatari, Egyptian or Jordanian, would be viewed as an occupation…..just by other Arabs.
So, when Palestine Penny says she supports recognition of a “Palestinian state”, it is difficult to believe she is not cognizant with the sort of issues outlined above.
And, if she is, (and there are scores more issues not mentioned in this post….), then her statement is arguably both irresponsible and made entirely for home voter consumption of a targeted demographic (interpret that as you may….) A purely opportunistic politically self-serving move given the hardened polarities on either side of the Israeli arab divide now.
Well may Palestine Penny state that Israels security depends on the recognition of “other countries in the region”. The fact is that EVERY single Muslim Arab state on Israels contiguous borders and beyond KNOWS and recognises that Israel exists and is going nowhere.
Her concerns should, first and foremost, be addressed to the terror leaders of Hamas and the recidivist PA in Ramallah. Her calls should be for the Arabs she calls “Palestinians” to get their own house in order before calling for recognition of statehood. But, it would appear that Ms Wong is increasingly being swayed by pro -Palestinian Labor MPs. In fact, her recent statement is the clearest sign yet that Australian Labor has started to pay attention to the potential electoral fallout of its pro Muslim and anti Israel voters as a direct result of its position on Gaza.

For its part, Israels intentions and offers of peace and statehood over 76 years are on the publicly verifiable record.
Before and after 1967, there has never been anything approaching peace or compromise from the Arabs now wanting you to call them “Palestinians”.
Their very “Palestinianism” is not now, nor has it ever been, a realisation of a discrete Arab Muslim identity, but rather has always been in opposition to a Jewish state.
That is not what granting statehood is about.
In other words, hatred of indigenous Jews historically resident as a distinct people with a distinct language, a distinct religion and a distinct culture for 1,700 years prior to the muslim invasion and occupation AND ARABISATION of indigenous Jewish homeland in Judea and Samaria and refusal of their right to exist as a sovereign state from those very same Mandate lands which gave rise to the nation states of Lebanon, Syria, Iraq and Jordan, is not a sufficient condition to form a state and nor should it.
And Palestine Penny knows this; or she should know this……
